ODU vs. VCU at the half; Rams lead 31-27

With Virginia Commonwealth University coming into the Ted Constant Convocation Center for the first match-up of the year against our Monarchs, it’s been a back and forth game from the tip off. Although Finney hit the first points of the game, the Rams got off to an early run scoring nine unanswered points thanks to senior forward Jamie Skeen and junior guard Bradford Burgess.
After switching to a zone and handling the quick defensive press of the Rams, the Monarchs came back simply because of three point shots by junior guard Trian Iliadis. Hitting two big three’s in a row, the Monarchs were able to own up to this rivalry by tying it at 18 with a Finney three-pointer at the 7:15 mark in the first half. Changing back from zone to man-to-man causes confusion for the VCU rams. For the rest of the first half, it was a blow by blow fight. With three pointers by both teams and rebounds above the rim that only these players can reach, the score stands with a slight lead for VCU at 31-27. Stay tuned for the second half of the biggest rivalry in the CAA!

I CANNOT believe there are at-the-half updates on the Mace website. Very proud. Keep up the good work, Monarch Macers.
