Dear Monarchs,

I hope all is well and everyone is well-rested from Spring Break. A few things on the SGA radar before the end of the semester are as follows:

Elections will be next Tuesday and Wednesday, March 26-27. You will vote via orgsync. We will be co-sponsoring the long-standing tradition, Exam Jam, with OSAL. Dining Appreciation Day is coming up where we hope all our fellow peers will all acknowledge and appreciate our dining staff. We hope to plan an International Student field trip to Busch Gardens, so that students who are only here for a limited period of time will get to experience the park. The SGA will be attending the International Festival where we will be airing our “Know the Facts” video and helping as volunteers. We will also go to Larchmont and read to the children as a part of ODU Day. Come visit our ‘90s themed table at Relay for Life and get a “REP for Relay” shirt, donations recommended. Lastly we will be co-sponsoring Campus Chaos.

Some recent accomplishments by the SGA have included extended library hours for both finals and regular weekends. Starting in the fall the library will open till 10 p.m. on both Fridays and Saturday nights. This semester, all four floors of the library will be open 24-7 for finals. It has been a long struggle to extend hours but they are finally here.

Some other accomplishments have included the successful completion of our Finish in 4 video, which will be shown at all previews, and our Finish in 4 segment for the planners we hand out to students at the beginning of the school year, which is co-sponsored with OSAL.

Also, as a heads up, our first football game this coming season will be at East Carolina University, about two and a half hours away, and there will be many student tickets and SGA will be sponsoring two or three busses for transport! More information will come closer to the date.

I hope everyone has been doing well on their midterms and good luck to all those in the job/internship hunt!

Best wishes,

Mariam Abdelhamid
