PRSSA brings Battalion Chief Timothy Riley to ODU

PRSSA brings Battalion Chief Timothy Riley to ODU

Old Dominion’s first chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is welcoming Battalion Chief Timothy Riley on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 12:30 p.m. in BAL 3056 to discuss the crisis communication efforts that took place following the 2012 F/A-18 training jet crash into Virginia Beach’s Mayfair Mews apartments.

Virginia Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Riley helped with the aftermath of the accidental jet crash, and will explain to the members of PRSSA the appropriate steps the Navy and the City of Virginia Beach took in dealing with the different levels of media.

ODU’s PRSSA exposes students to public relations internship fairs, community partnerships and professional speakers. It received its charter in August 2014 and currently has 40 members. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month. For membership information, please contact Jasmine Khadrane at PRSSAODU@gmail.com.
