Five Gadgets Every College Student Should Have This Summer
Summer has arrived, and for most college students, it’s time to kick back. With no classes, students can go out, relax and have some fun! Below are five types of gadgets college students should have this summer.
- Music players
Pools and beaches will be popular places for students this summer as they look to cool off from the heat. The waterproof iPod Shuffle will allow students to swim and listen to their music without worrying about breaking their device. The headphones packaged with the device are waterproof as well. There’s also the Mighty Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker that not only lives up to its name, but floats too!
The suction cup attached to it allows you to stick it on something as well. For people who want a playlist tailored to their interests, there’s Prizm. It acts much like Pandora’s music radio thanks to the ability to like or dislike music using the heart and cross buttons respectively.
2. Fitness trackers
Summer is the perfect time to go out and exercise. Fitness trackers, like the Spire Mindfulness Activity Tracker, can help you keep tabs of all the calories you’re burning when you exercise. The Spire not only keeps track of your steps and other health data, but also measures your breathing to help you relax. There’s also the Lumo Run capris that have a tracker embedded in the lining of them.
If you’re looking for something more stylish, there’s the Vivid Wellness pendant tracker that looks just like a piece of jewelry. Alternatively, if something more simplistic is your style, there’s the Withings Go, which is a basic version of the other fitness tracking watches on the market.
3. Portable electric scooters
You’ll probably want to go out and about over the summer break. Portable electric scooters, like the URB-E and Xcooter, will get the job done! There’s also the Emicro One, which has a price tag of $1,000. It’s probably not the most affordable summer gadget out there, but if you can save up the money for one, these scooters are foldable to allow them to fit into small spaces. You’ll be able to enjoy the summer air outside while running errands close to home. Use it to get from point A to point B while saving a little bit of money on gas.
4. Phone accessories
Odds are you’ll have your phone with you this summer. To help keep your phone charged, there’s the Juice Pack H2OPro. Made for the iPhone 6 and 6S, it not only charges your phone, but also protects it from water. For the underwater selfies you may want to take, you can use the Splash Camera Housing, also for the iPhone 6 and 6S. This allows you to safely take your phone underwater and take pictures. Speck has released the Pocket VR for virtual reality enthusiasts, which allows you to turn your smartphone into a virtual reality device. Finally, to keep your phone clean, there’s the PhoneSoap. The device has two UV-C lamps that kill germs that may be on your phone. In addition to cleaning your phone, which takes about four minutes, the device also charges your phone.
Finally, there are drones. Despite being controversial, they can still be used for fun. The Onagofly Nano Drone kicked off with an Indiegogo campaign. The five inch drone is capable of avoiding obstacles and live streaming video. Released in September 2015, the Hexo+ is another drone that can help make your summer more eventful. If you’re planning on going on summer adventures and want to record them, pick up a drone, attach a camera to it and let the drone help you do the recording.
