Boston’s Current Tour Launches Concertgoers Into Hyper Space

Adam Flores | Senior Writer

Boston is Tom Scholz’s rock ‘n’ roll mother ship within the heliosphere of music.

The veteran guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist is currently leading his legendary band on a North American summer trek. The tour launched back on April 14 from the “Cape Canaveral” Hard Rock Live stage in Hollywood, Florida.

The band will disembark at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater this coming Thursday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Virginia Beach.

Boston arrived onto the rock music scene more than four decades ago back in August 1976 with their self-titled, debut LP. From that moment, their infamous sound and musicianship have been a staple with each successive album release, separating them from the rest of the rock genre with their unique, sonic delivery.

With classic hits such as “More Than a Feeling,” Long Time” and “Piece of Mind,” Boston has not looked back with the timeless appeal of their material. The group continues to pave the way with periodic, new releases and concert tour runs. Currently, they are touring in support of their latest studio project, “Life, Love & Hope.”

An MIT graduate and Polaroid engineer, Scholz pioneered the legendary sound of Boston creating numerous custom electronic devices that have revolutionized the music and recording industry. His Rockman line alone has found its way into the sonic arsenal of countless guitar player rigs and effects setups.

Scholz creates his music with the intention of playing it live, in real time with real musicians. This makes them one of the few bands in history to reproduce seemingly-impossible-to-perform productions on stage, without the use of prerecorded music or technical enhancements.

Boston’s upcoming performance at the VUHL Amphitheater in Virginia Beach promises to be an unforgettable sonic and visual experience.
