Lil Yachty Coming to The NorVa Aug. 18
Adam Flores | Senior Writer
Lil Yachty, the 19-year-old “bubblegum trap” rap sensation, is due to port at The NorVa on Aug. 18, at 8 p.m., in support of his debut studio album, “Teenage Emotions.”
Yachty, also a proclaimed Instagram star, is making waves within the hip-hop community with his unorthodox use of beats and lyrics, pushing the boundaries of the genre. He may be precocious or pretentious according to his critics but one thing is for sure, Yachty has set sail catching the attention of everyone in music.
“Teenage Emotions,” released back on May 26, adds a fresh voice within the framework of hip-hop. Tracks such as “Peek a Boo (ft. Migos),” “Harley,” “Bring It Back” and “X Men” are a testament to Yachty’s distinct sound and songwriting approach, unmooring hip-hop from its melodic and rhythmic predictability.
The Atlanta native’s approach to the new album’s cover shot has caught the attention of many with its inclusive, cultural and social mindset. His new record also comes via a major, joint record deal with Quality Control Music, Capitol Records and Motown.
Catch Lil Yachty live on The NorVa stage Aug. 18 as the night promises to be an unforgettable experience showcasing his enormous talent and brand for what the future of hip-hop looks like in the radical eyes of the self-proclaimed, “bubblegum trap” artist.
