“Animal Crossing” fans have a new game to look forward to. Nintendo had an Animal Crossing Mobile Direct at 11 p.m. EST on October 24. The Direct was only about 14 minutes long, but it was dedicated to a new “Animal Crossing” game for mobile devices called “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.”
The game is centered around building a campsite that you can share with your friends, human and animal. You get to create your own character, a male or female human, and you can choose their skin tone, hair color and eye color. Materials can be gathered in various locations throughout the game to build furniture. Players visit Cyrus to get their furniture built.
There are a variety of places to explore in the game, including an island, a beach, a forest and a river. Breezy Hollow is one of these places. This forest allows players to shake trees for fruit. Sunburst Island is home to many bugs. Saltwater Shores is a fishing spot where players can also pick up coral and other beach themed items. Shovelstrike Quarry is the place to mine minerals to exchange for bells.
Market Place is the place for shopping. Timmy and Tommy run a shop called Nookling Global, where players can pick up items that Cyrus can’t make. The Able Sisters run a clothing shop named Able Sisters To Go. Players can pick up shoes at Kicks. The selection in the shops changes regularly.
The camper is used for both travel and as a small home for the player that can be decorated inside and out. OK Motors allows players to customize the outside of their campers. It is run by Giovanni, Beppe and Carlo. A second floor to the camper can also be added here.
Players can befriend animals within the game. Friendship levels have been added. If you level up the friendship meter, the animals will visit your campsite. They will also visit if you have their favorite furniture items in your campsite. You can help the animals with tasks to earn rewards like bells and materials for crafting furniture.
You can also befriend other human players. This can be done by exchanging your player ID with your friends or by interacting with players in the game. Players can exchange bells for fish, fruit or bugs, visit the campsite, give kudos and become friends with those they meet in the game. Once you’re friends with someone, you can visit their campsite whenever you want.
Leaf Tickets will allow you to supplement any materials you’re running low on. They can also be used to speed up the completion of amenities and furniture built by Cyrus. Throw nets and honey can be purchased with the tickets. They are also used to enter Shovelstrike Quarry.
The tickets can be earned through regular game play. They can also be purchased using real money.
Leaf Tickets, bells and other items can be earned through completing goals. There will also be seasonal events, furniture and clothing available for a limited time. The game is slated for a late November launch on iOS and Android devices. A website and Twitter have also been set up ahead of the game’s launch.
