Broderick to Assume Interim Presidency

ODU’s Board of Visitors has announced that John R. Broderick will fill the role of interim president of the university. Broderick will hold the position until the school’s search committee chooses a permanent replacement for former President Roseann Runte. Broderick currently holds the title of vice president for institutional advancement and admissions and chief of staff.

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine stepped in last week to provide an additional $1.5 million in funding for Old Dominion University’s Virtual Modeling and Simulation
Center (VMASC), heading off a potential budget crisis that could have forced the university to lay off 12 of the center’s 15 researchers.

University Raises Tuition

 Old Dominion University’s governing board last week approved a 4-percent tuition increase proposed by the Board of Visitors. This applies to undergraduate students and out-of-state graduate students. However, graduate students are expected to pay a marginal 4.1 percent.
