Nintendo Direct Showcases Upcoming Titles

A Nintendo Direct, aired on Sept. 13, released new information about upcoming games for the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch. Much of the 45-minute stream focused on briefly going over upcoming games.
More information was given for “Super Mario Odyssey.” Pictures can be taken to be shared on social media. The game launches Oct. 27. Mario, Peach and Bowser amiibo in wedding attire and a special Nintendo Switch will also be released that day.
A trailer for “Xenoblade Chronicles 2” introduced the game’s six regional powers of Alrest. Much of the trailer focused on game play features such as Titans and the battle system. The game launches Dec. 1.
A new game by Square Enix, under the working title “Project Octopath Traveler,” was also shown. The game is expected to focus on eight travelers as they explore the world of Orsterra. Information on the paths your characters can take and the battle system were shown. A demo version was launched on the Nintendo eShop. “Project Octopath Traveler” is scheduled for a worldwide launch in 2018.
New eShop titles were announced as well. These titles included “SteamWorld Dig 2,” “Golf Story,” “Nine Parchments,” “Battle Chef Brigade,” “Tiny Metal” and “Super Meat Boy Forever.”
Lyn will join the “Fire Emblem Warriors” cast on the Nintendo Switch. “Fire Emblem Warriors” launches on Oct. 20 for the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS. Chrom and Tiki amiibo will also launch on the same day.
“Kirby: Battle Royale” pits four Kirby against each other in a variety of mini games. A single player story mode and regional online multiplayer will be available. The game will launch Jan. 19. A 25th anniversary poll has been released to allow players to choose their favorite Copy Ability for Kirby.
More information about the upcoming “Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon” games was released. New areas of the Alolan region have been discovered, and new clothing items will be available for customizing your character. Players who purchase the game before Jan. 10 will be able to get a special Rockruff that evolves into Lycanroc Dusk Form, and those that get the game digitally will be able to get 12 Quick Balls. Those that purchase “Pokemon Gold and Silver,” launching Sept. 22, through the eShop will also get a Celebi through September 2018. Ultra Beasts Bursts and Assembly were also announced. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launch Nov. 17.
A Poke Ball themed New 2DS XL will launch Nov. 3. An orange and white New 2DS XL will launch Oct. 6.
